Activities and Sights in the Surrounding Area

Logie Coldstone and the surrounding area are steeped in history and you will not be short of finding fun and interesting things to see and do during your stay. Visit one of the beautiful historic buildings including Balmoral Castle and 'Royals' Church at Crathie.

Take in the glorious view, favourite by our Queen aptly named 'The Queens View' and follow Queen Victoria's Scenic Trail.

One of the best ways to appreciate our landscape is to go out by foot along many of the well-established hill walking trails. You may even be lucky enough to spot one of our famous red squirrels! If taking to the snow covered hills is more your idea of fun, we are just a 40 minute drive from The Letch Ski Centre that have many activities all year round.

Golf enthusiasts will not be short of finding a place to play and Tarland boasts a beautifully maintained 9-hole parkland course.

Fishing is one of the most popular sports in Scotland and we are lucky to have some of the best fishing rivers close by.

Follow the trail to discover The Burn 'O' Vat cave and waterfall on Muir of Dinnet, followed by a walk around The Loch Kinord Nature Reserve - ideal for bird watching.

Local providers offer Cycle hire, pony trekking and gliding for the whole family to enjoy.

Travel in to Aberdeen by car where you will find a vast array of shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, bowling alleys and historic buildings. Visit Ballater, in Royal Deeside, with the Cairngorms and Balmoral Castle nearby. The old Ballater station, containing Queen Victoria's waiting room, is now a visitor center with a replica royal carriage.

Eating and Drinking - Nearby Tarland has two pubs serving food daily. You will also find a newsagents and small grocery shop for your convenience. A 15 minute drive will find you in Aboyne, the next largest town to Tarland which offers tea rooms, pubs, an Indian restaurant and Fish and Chips. You will find many places to stop for a picnic and take in the views while out enjoying the countryside.
